She went on to pursue her passion at the elementary school, middle school, high school, collegiate, and professional level.
Alyssa Monét started her dance career learning ballet, contemporary, jazz, and tap dance. She is now trained in all styles of dance also including lyrical, hip hop, latin jazz, heels, and jazz funk. At the studio level, Alyssa competed with Studio 61 in Davie, FL, owned by former Miami HEAT Dancer Gina Francis. At Studio 61, Alyssa received training from former Miami HEAT Dancer Taryn Heinneman, and other notable Miami choreographers.
Alyssa Monét competed with her middle and high school's competitive dance team, the regional and national award winning Somerset Pantherettes, under the direction of Stacey Swogger. From 7th grade to 12th grade, Alyssa trained in the style of dance team jazz, hip hop, contemporary, lyrical, latin jazz, and jazz funk routines. She became the captain of the Somerset Pantherettes her senior year of high school.
Alyssa Monét went on to dance for the University of Miami's division 1 Sunsations Dance Team, under the direction of Stephanie Mas. She was trained in collegiate style dance team jazz, hip hop, contemporary, lyrical, pom, and acro styles of dance. Here, she competed at UDA nationals, ACC championships, and performed at every home football and basketball game.
Alyssa currently dances professionally for the NBA Miami HEAT Dancers. She became a Miami HEAT Dancer, under the direction of Natalia Gonzalez , in 2021. As a Miami HEAT Dancer, Alyssa trains in styles of jazz, hip hop, and heels dance routines at every home basketball game. She is able to work with notable choreographers, learn material, and perform for thousands of fans on a consistent basis.
